158 Clarence served as a Staff Sergeant, 172nd Infantry, 42nd Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II. He enlisted in the Vermont National Guard on February 24, 1941, prior to the war, in Lyndonville, Vermont. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.
Clarence died in the "Line Of Duty" of a non-battle related incident during the war.
He was originally interred in Guadalcanal Cemetery and was later repatriated here on February 29, 1949.

170 CURTIS, AARON, son of Eldad, succeeded to the homestead, on which he had an extensive rope walk, during the war of 1812. Two of his children were instantly killed, by being thrown from a wagon, in 1813. He removed to Ithaca, N.Y., about 1818, where he established an extensive rope walk. 171 CURTIS, ELDAD, from Connecticut; settled at a very early day on the place now owned by Robert Stevens. He was uncommonly intelligent and very fond of music. When compelled, by the improvidence of others, to leave his home when nearly 90, he composed a farewell hymn, which he sung on crossing the state line. When he had finished the hymn, he reverently lifted his hat and bade Pawlet farewell. "Biographical Sketches Men of Pawlet"

172 Dale E. Daniels, age 79, of Brockton died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Nancy M. (Burke) Daniels. Born and raised in St. Johnsbury, Vt., the oldest child of James E. and Bertha B. (Cook) Daniels, Dale had been a resident of Brockton since 1970. He had previously resided in Brighton for several years. A 1952 graduate of St. Johnsbury Trade High School, Dale worked at Raytheon his entire career. He began work at the Waltham plant while still in high school and interrupted his job to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Dale loved all sports and had been a coach for many years for Brookfield Little League and Brockton Youth Hockey. He was a collector of sports cards and enjoyed reading. He was a great story teller and loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Donna M. Stack of Middleboro, Kevin D. Daniels of Ridgewood, N.J., and Mark R. Daniels of Brockton; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; his siblings, Rodney E. Daniels of St. Johnsbury, Vt., Nathan J. Daniels of Somers, Conn., Janet M. Daniels of Hanover, N.H., John C. Daniels of St. Johnsbury and the late James A. Daniels Daniels, Dale Edgar (I58)

191 Elizabeth "Betty" Hilliard, formerly of Valley Street, died at Pleasant View Center Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at the age of 99. She was born in Concord, the daughter of the late Hallett E. Patten and May (Bachelder) Patten, and she was the widow of Harry E. Hilliard who died in 1968.

She is survived by two daughters, Lois Howe (Richard) of Concord; Janet Reiter (Jan) of Chesterfield Township, Mich.; two granddaughters, Sarah Hodgkins of Bow, and Krista Jaworski of Roseville, Mich.; two grandsons, Kevin Howe of Concord, and Eric Reiter of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.; eight great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Eleanor Parmenter in 1986 and Lois (Taylor) Barry in 1999.

198 ENOSBURG FALLS -- Paul D. Tibbits, age 69, died Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 29, 2001, at his home surrounded by his family following a brief illness.

He was born in East Berkshire July 6, 1932, the son of the late Ivan Sr. & Myrtle (Dixon) Tibbits.

Paul had been a resident of Enosburg most of his life and a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post #42. He was a farm machinery mechanic and was employed at A. Bonneau in Sheldon and later at Bourbeau International and Franklin Ford Tractor in St. Albans until 1989. He then retired from Boston Boiler in 1994.

He is survived by his wife Mary (Domina) Tibbits; a son John Tibbits and his companion Debbie Aldrich of Fairfield; two daughters, Sara Tibbits and her companion John Erno of Franklin, Wendy Baker and her husband Sean of St. Albans; two sisters, Geraldine Godin and her husband Henry of Montgomery Center, Charlene Johnston and her husband Vernon of Williston; four grandchildren, Seth Erno, Haley Tibbits, Aaron & Lindsay Baker; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother Ivan Tibbits, Jr., and two sisters, Susan Jane & Lucille Tibbits.
