Blairs of Kippen, Scotland
John Blair and
Margaret McLuckie
Our branch of
the Blair Family Tree dates back to the 1700s and originates
in Kippen, Stirlingshire, Scotland.
John Blair and
Margaret
McLuckie, my oldest "positive" ancestors, were born in 1720 in Kippen Scotland and
lived the end of their lives at Hill of Arnmore, shown in the
photo above. This is still a working farm.
We suspect,
but can not prove that John was the son of
Donald Blair and
Janet McAdam. Old Parish Records
of the Church of Scotland indicate that Donald and Janet had
a son John, baptized on March 27, 1720 in Kippen. The same records also
show that Donald and Janet also had sons Duncan and
Alexander, and daughters Mary, Elizabeth, and Janet. Letters
written to Robert Blair, son of John Blair and Margaret
McLuckie, make reference to "uncles Duncan and Alexander and
aunts Mary, Elizabeth, and Janet.

According to the History of Barnet Vermont Robert died May

age of 83. Robert Blair was the first of my line to come to
America.
