My grgrgrandmother was Elizabeth Blair b. in Trumbull County, Ohio on October 8, 1810. She married my grgrgrandfather, Wm. Walter on March 3, 1831 in Ross County, Ohio and they settled in Marion County, Ohio. Might we be related?

I don't believe her first name was Elizabeth, although that is what is on her tombstone. Her name could have been Susan as the census of 1850 states.

I am just starting to investigate the family name. I was born in 1950 and my fathers name was Arthur Leslie Blair 1913 to 1982 born Darlington. His father John Blair, lived mainly in the Darlington area, was born at Thornaby 1883, died 1949, his father William born 1850, and died 1930 in the Darlington area. A thing to note is the common themes of the names that run through the various sites for the Blair's. John of course is very common, but there are lots of James and William. My grandfather and great grandfather had brothers called, William, James, Ernest, Alan and sisiters Mary, Jessica and Elizabeth. I was always told that the family came down from Scotland in the 1745 rebellion to stay with relatives as we were protestants, and on the wrong side. After the rebellion we stayed. Excellent site. Seeking further information on family of William Blair and Elizabeth Offer married in Trowbridge. Wilts. UK. 18 Oct 1823. His father was Isaac Blair m Mary Marshall 12 Jan 1775 Poulshot Wilts. Uk. His father William Blaire b abt 1717. Poulshot. Wilts. Family were weavers. I think that it might just get me off the stumped point that I am at now. My husbands family did not keep very good records on their families. I do know that my husbands great grandmother was the sister of Cochise. The only part of him that is white is his blue eyes and blonde hair that is now snow white. But we are really trying to trace our heritages. I neither of our grand parents or great grand parents have any records. In fact I could not ask them anyway as they are gone. In my mothers side of the family there has been some break through on the Fleming family. I just got a letter from a cousin that found out that my father and her uncle were desentants of Peter William Brass. He came from England around the early 1800's. How accurate all this I am not sure. Now my problem is how do I start with the information that I now have? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been doing a little at a time since I got out of high school. However, I have not had the opportunity to be near a genealogy libraries. So whenever, whenever there is something that seems to be in my family searches I check them out. I am currently looking for the Flemings & Brass families in Nebraska. Looking for connections thru Emily W. Blair Stone. Believe she was born in Guildhall VT.,( B. 1808 -- D: 1847 ) possibly daughter of Robert Blair. Marshall B. I happened on this site through a contact to a BLAIR family member. I really think it is neat and hope that I may be able to find more family history dating back to Scotland. Most of my records begin in New Brunswick, Canada where my great grandfather was born. From his birth, I have most of the necessary records, but before Canada is a blank. Also, not known is the facts pertaining to loyalists (who) coming over, when, and where they settled. I have a lot of info on my great grandmother's side, as she was a Gibson and there had been a Gibson Family Book written by a distant relative of mine in Utah, which includes my family of Blairs. If anyone has any info that will help me or give me a lead to follow, I would appreciate it very much.

I don't know enough about computers to submit my (Blair) geneolgy. My father's mother was Hazel Blair her parents were George Washington Blair and Eveline Dempsey --George's parents were John Smith Blair and Nancy Presley-- and John's father was Harrison Blair and Elizabeth Chafin and his parents were John Smith Blair and Polly Basiden and his father John Ancel Blair of Greenbrier VA (WVA). By my own guess John Ancel and Ester (his wife ) were probably born around 1770 give or take a few yrs because John Smith (the 1st one) was born in 1798 in Virgina. This John would settle in Logan Virgina and raise this branch of the Blairs. I find your sight very well put together and filled with usful information for decendants of your family however I don't feel my Blairs are amongst yours anywhere.
