Enjoyed the Blair genealogy. My line is William and son David Blair from Ireland to SC. David's 3 children Jane, John and William Blair. Search engine- related to family dna projects. I am currently beginning a family dna study for the Arnold family. I wanted to view several sites to see what would be needed in the publishing end. Though I am not a relative of the Blair family, I noticed on the section of this website "the Vermont Blairs" the census records for Chittenden County, Shelburne, Vermont mentioned a Francis Blair and others. In a book my family owns called Look Around St. George and Shelburne Vermont, the Blair House on Shelburne Point is in there, and Francis Blair, and the Blair family lived there until around 1918, when they sold the property to the Eckersons, who built 3 summer cottages on the shoreline of Lake Champlain there. Later on the property, farmhouse, cottages and a barn became owned by my aunt and uncle (my mom's sister). My parents and I went up there in the summers from 1968 until 1991 and we have many photos of the house, cottages, Lake Champlain in our photo albums. Today, the farmhouse and cottages are gone, but the old Blair barn still stands on the East side of Harbor Road in Shelburne. That book, Look Around St. George and Shelburne, Vermont the town hall in Shelburne should still have copies for sale, the book was written in 1975.

I find that this is an excellent site for the O'Hara clan worldwide.
The part that I find is an excellent history is that of Thomas and Sarah
O'Hara who came to Australia in 1853 and the rest of both of the families.

Good site with plenty of information but lacking in the latest and best research into the Scottish Blair families. The CBS publication "The Blair of Balthayock and their Cadets 1150 - 1850 covers accurately hundreds of Blair people related to Steven de Blair 1150c - 1210c progenitor of the Blair families in Perthshire, Angus and Fife.
This book is based on primary source material and on old records only recently made available, extracts of which are given in part 2 of the book. This shows how poorly all other histories of the early Blair families have been researched and how even today many Blair authors are regurgitating errors due to their failure to use primary source material much of which is written in Latin. Get the book from the CBS and update your records. Don't belive Sir Robert Douglas's Scots Baronage too fully and tear up any histories based on Ander's 19th century history of the Blairs of Balthayock.

I am a descendent of James Blair who was born in the Highlands of Scotland.I don't know who he married, but one of his sons also James Blair 1793-1858 married Lucinda Bigelow who was born in Vermont in 1802 and died in Sumner Iowa in 1879, they had 9 children one of whom is Persis Blair my ancestor. My situation is unique since both of my parents were Blairs. My g-great grandfather on my dad's side was Adam Blair Jr. who is buried in Fairmont Cemetary, Jackson Co., Ohio. He came from Ireland in 1837. On my mother's side my g-great grandfather was John Franklin Blair married to Catherine Wise and were from Tennessee.
