Noah Reeder m. Dorcas Blair @1818 and had, among others, Noah Webster Reeder, who married Sarah Cureton West and begat Jessie Pearl Reeder. Well, Jessie Pearl m. Benjamin David Kimmel and had 13 children. One of those was Annie Viola who m. George Edward Harper and had six children. The oldest was Marie Ann Harper. She married Gene Carl Boney and had three children. The middle of these three is ME. I am Carla Jane Boney Weber and working on genealogy. You are very organized and I wish your Blair's were mine! I'm trying to find my great great grandmother who was born in 1882 but where I do not know. She had an accent--married my great grandfather Oscar Leroy Miller of Decorah, Iowa then had my grandfather, Leroy Blair Miller. My dad was named after his father and I am one of two daughters Mary Katherine and Janet Blair Miller. We both have childrend with the middle name of Blair. Was led here by a comment written on another genealogy site. My brother (in England) and I are researching our family history through names Blair, Hanrahan, Teesdale, Grevatt and many more, totalling over 1400. One limb of the tree goes back to the 1500's but unfortunately the furthest we can get back on the Blair side is Abt 1730 to our 4th Great Grandfather, Richard Blair. Richard (who we think was born in Scotland (possibly Perthshire)was married to Sarah Mitchenor on June 21st, 1753 at New Shorehan, Sussex, England.Their children were named Sarah, Phoebe, Richard, Phoebe (the first Phoebe died as an infant, possibly at birth), John and Thomas. I am descended from James Gilfillan born Killearn 1785 (he was my GGG grandfather)- his parents were John Gilfillan and Christian McAlpine. John Gilfillan's parents were John Gilfillan and Jean McIndoe.

I would think there is a link here with your Gilfillan lineage and mine.(especially the area and the names Gilfillan and McIndoe)

James Gilfillan(son of John Gilfillan and Christian McAlpine) born 1785, married Jean Buchanan Stewart of Killearn in 1799,( daughter of Duncan Stewart and Janet Malcolm)

James Gilfillan's siblings:-John, William, Janet & Mary.

There is a reference to James Gilfillan in the History of Stirlingshire. He was a colourful character and was temporarily keelhauled on to Nelson's ship the Victory. He is described as from a respectable family, stout in appearance and had been a smuggler at one time.

Incidentally I have visited these parishes and purchased a local book on Killearn with reference to the Gilfillan family. Its a picturesque part with lovely views of Loch Lomond.

This is a wonderful site and shows the exact reason why we must educate our children on what we know about our family and our history. I am a Scottish Immigrant who came from Greenock in 1989 when I was 17 years old. The only American Blair's that I knew off were my 2 children until now and was very surprised to see how many of us there really is.. My grandmother Sarah Blair,"Big Sadie" used to tell me off my family when I was young and I really didn't understand. It wasn't until the later years of my life that I realized she was telling me about my heritage and my family and by then she had passed on and went to Heaven with all the other Blair Angels.. My gg grandfather was James Blair Pace. His fahter was Francis Pace of Virginia (Goochland County, moved to Pittsylvania County, from there to Missouri). There are at least a half dozen James Blair Paces among Francis Pace descendents.

I am aware that James Blair was the first president of William & Mary, est. 1693. My first ancestral record is a land purchase by John Pace in Middlesex County, VA in 1696.

Interesting possibilities. Are any Blairs aware of any Blair-Pace connections?

My 3rd great grandmother is Margaret Gilfillan b 22 feb 1801 to Robert and Jean Gilfillan. She was born in Barnet, Caledonia, VT and d. there 18 May 1899. She was married to Nathaniel A. Roy on 22 feb 1827 in Barnet, VT. Nathaniel was b. 23 sep 1802 in Barnet and died there 8 dec 1891. My family started in England. One of my ancestors was the High Lord Mayor of London sometime in the 14th century, and another was charged with treason in the same era, however this relative was wrongly accused and was hanged. The actual culprit was found a few months later and beaten to death by the two older brothers of the accused. The Blair family moved through out europe. Both parents where born in Liverpool and so was I. I went to Canada in 1955 and moved to the USA in 1984. Both my sons where born in Canada. Terry Blair

I am trying to link all the Blairs in this country. My grandmother was a Blair. Our first U.S. relative is Alexander Blair who married Elizabeth Cochran in Lancaster County Pennsylvania in 1753. They had a son named John Blair born on September of 1776 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. All we know is that they came from County Armaugh in Ireland and before that from the area north of Edinburgh, Scotland. Found their ship log in 1727 leaving Ireland. I have been searching for my GGrandfather, Isaac Crow, with no luck. I took part in a DNA test and my only exact match was from Scotland, but it was marked private! There were many other mutations from England! I'm still searching for any trace of Isaac Crow, born in Clarke Co. GA., 1819, moved to TX. abt 1845, then to AR. abt. 1859, then back to TX. abt 1883 and died in Brown Co. TX., 1890

Hello...as you can see from above, my name is Gilfillan also. From what I understand, my family is from Scotland. They migrated to Canada where my grandfather (Safford) married a half indian female (Ester). Later they moved to VT in a town called Orleans. He later had sons...Robert, Frank and unknown others and several daughters. Robert would be my Father allthough I have never met him, who served in the Army. I am searching for information on my great grand father. David Blair dob (1937/8) born Ireland who married Elizabeth Quinlon dob (1856) born Ireland.They subsequently moved to London. They were married about 1881. They had 6 children of whom William Henry Blair was my grandfather (1895) Born London and my father David Henry Blair (1925) born Melbourne Australia. Children of David Snr & Elizabeth are. Maggie, David, Agnes, Eliza, Lousia and William H. My Grand father William H emigrated to Australia in the early 1900's pre 1915.

My grandmother in Central Texas, USA, was Karen Alta Blair (1878-1920)... her father was John Dallas Blair (approx.1853-1930). They lived and died in a little town south of Fort Worth called Bynum, Texas. Greetings, I am wondering if there is a connection to the Gilfillan branch that is descended from Alexander Gilfillan who left Scotland to go to Ireland about 1735.
