Doing family research, I did a search for the will of William Blair. I have a William Blair in my family tree that was born in 1759 and was a revolutionary war vet. One of his sons , George Douglass Blair, had a child with Elizabeth Stephenson Crawford Blair, by the name of Eliza Jane Blair, b.Mar.1818 in Maury County, Tn. married my gggrandfather Henderson McMahon in 1843. Samuel "Sam" BLAIR born in GA (@ 1840 - @ 1863) married a HARRIS (Catherine B. "Mary" or Emily") @ 1860 in GA. Only one issue, a son: William Samuel (W. S.) BLAIR (1861 GA - 1940 TX). W. S. married Willie Anna GILMORE (1864 GA - 1908 TX) in 1883 in Talbot Co., GA. Ten children (5 girls & 5 boys). W. S. had six BLAIR grandsons, five BLAIR great-grandsons. To date there are no BLAIR great-great-grandsons.

It is said that Sam was killed during the Sar Between the States. There is a suggested match of a marriage with Emily E. HARRIS, daughter of Gray HARRIS; however W. S.'s oldest daughter said that Sam married Catherine B. "Mary" HARRIS. If Emily is the wife, then she remarried and had other children. If Catherine is the wife, then her second marriage was to a CANNON and there was no issued from this marriage. If Emily was Sam's wife then his mother's name was Mary (born in Ireland) and Sam was the first child born in the United States (Columbus, Muscogee Co., GA). Several female descendants of W. S. are named Mary.

I've hit a roadblock in my Blair research... I can trace back to George Washington Blair (1789-1873, m. Mary A. Fairchild), his father, Joseph Blair (1759-1795, m. My ggggrandfather was Fulton Morgan.He was born 1831 in Tenn. He married a Julia Blair about 1849 or 1850 in Tenn. He would have been 18 or 19 when he married Julia who was about 33, as she was born 1817 in N. C. She brought a child into the marriage named William E. Blair born 1847. No one in the family is sure if this child was born out of wedlock, or if she was married to a Blair and had William E. Blair with her first husband. I do not know if Julia's maried name is Blair or if that is her given last name. I thought that if I traced William E. Blair's line, I would find someone who knew who his father was. I would be grateful to anyone who could help us solve this mystery. PS Awesome website!! I wish more genealogy lines would do DNA testing to track their lineage. If they did I would participate in a heartbeat!!!

I am the great-granddaughter of Columbus Patterson Mungo, d. 1930, Mecklenburg County, NC. His first wife being "Annie" Blair, d. 1889 (Tirzah her first name, misspelled as Thariza on her tombstone at Philadelphia Presbyterian). We've speculated for years in our family the "P" in his name & until recently leaned towards Patrick. However, he answers that his name is "Patterson Mungo" on the 1920 Mecklenburg County census, Charlotte City township, page 29. So we now go with Patterson as his middle name. His 2nd wife, Virginia E. "Jennie" Jerome, was my great-grandmother (married in 1893). The 1910 census provided me with Sefe's name (a son by C. P. & Annie). It was "Josephus", therefore "Sefe" or "Sief" for short. (E.D. # 123, pg 230A) I don't have this site's information in front of me and I know that some of this is repetitive, but just in case I've got something more or different here are the children I have for C.P. & Annie Blair Mungo (& I'm not sure of birth order): Thomas Franklin "Tom", Edward Issac "Ed", William Franklin "Bud" (who married my great-Aunt, Laura Cornelia "Neely" Williams), Annie, Tirzah Catherine "Kate", James "Tood", Leesa, and Josephus "Sefe". Also two children who died as infants & are buried at Philadelphia Presbyterian (beside church): William M. Mungo (d. 1870) & Paul P. Mungo (d. 1868) C. P. & Virginia would have 8 children. Their 2nd was Pat Mungo, my grandfather, who died 11/25/1987. Their youngest, Rachel (Thomas) is their only surviving child. She was born 12/19/1912. It has been said that Virginia loved all the children, never distinquishing between either set. How marvelous!

Iam trying to make a connection to the Blair family of Kansas City, Missouri. My wife's great-grandmother was apparently named Ana Elizabeth Green (Smith), and her mother was apparently a Blair. She was reputed to be a relative of Francis Preston Blair, of Blair House fame in Washington, DC; however, I can't find the link. I have been looking all over for all the Blairs that ended up in the St. Elizabeth region of Jamaica. You might be interested in looking up Euphamie Blair, b. abt. 1528, Scotland, m. Andrew Scott, b. abt. 1520, Balwearie, Scotland. Andrew's line starts with Uchtredus Filius Scoti, b. before 1100. Euphamie's father was Thomas Blair. Euphamie & Andrew had a son, Alexander who married Margaret Ogilvie and they are my 12th great grandparents. No verification at this time. I've managed to trace my BLAIR ancestry back (with 100% certainty, thanks to www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk) to a John Blair who married a Sarah McPherson sometime around 1830, in Scotland. Then John & Sarah begat Duncan, around 1837 and he married Catherine Livingstone in 1858. They begat another John, in 1864, who married a Jemima Robertson in 1886. They begat William Taylor Blair in 1983, who was my paternal grandfather.

I am seeking descendants of James BLAIR (b c1788 Ireland) and Jane MOOREHEAD (b c1791 Ireland), who were probably married pre-1807 (possibly Ireland or Liverpool, England ?), who had at least three sons - John BLAIR, James BLAIR and Edward BLAIR. There may have been other children, but I am unsure at this stage.

1) John BLAIR (b c1807 Liverpool) married at least twice - Mary BURNS (1836 Bristol), and Eliza HANCOCKS (1840 Bristol). John BLAIR died in 1898 in Bristol, England. Known children are as follows:

First marriage to Mary BURNS Sarah b c1832 out of wedlock ? (migrated to Australia, m Abraham SWADLING) Annie b 1837 (migrated to Australia - m 1. John ROBINSON 2. William FOSTER) Elizabeth b 1839 (fate unknown)

First marriage to Jane BRADLEY Edward BLAIR b 1863 (m Mary HARCOURT nee HENNESSY)

Second marriage to Mary Jane EDDEVANE Louisa BLAIR/EDDAVANE/ROBERTS (stepdaughter) b c1879 Ada BLAIR b c1887-8

Although we know that Edward BLAIR jr remained in Liverpool, we are unsure of the fate of the two girls, Louisa and Ada BLAIR.

I'm an O'Hara descendant through Oliver & Mary (McIver) O'Hara's daugher, Mary Jane O'Hara b. ca 1823 in Parish Skerry, Co. Antrim, Ireland m. Edward Arnold b. 1822, Rathcormac, Co. Cork, Ireland. They married in Woonsocket, R.I., Edward worked in the mills in Blackstock, Mass. for a few years but then they eventually moved to Ponca, Dixon Co., Nebraska where they settled and homesteaded. Edward was a well educated man who made a place for himself early on in the frontier of Nebraska. There was a Sioux uprising during the time of the Civil War which threatened the settlers in the area. Edward Arnold was in his early 40s. He joined the Army as Corporal and then chased the Sioux on horseback for a grueling march far into Minnesota. If he didn't have back trouble when he started, he did when it was over. They raised their four children on a large, prosperous farm near Ponca. Their son, William, became a railroad engineer, working out of the railroad yards in Omaha and his son, William, also worked for the railroad in South Dakota. Both men died before retiring. Their youngest son, John, worked in one of the largest mines in Colorado, that's where he died before retiring. Their two daughters married well, lived long lives and established large families whose members still can be found in great numbers in those states along the Missouri River, Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. There was an Oliver Fenton and is an Oliver Holtzmann who had no idea who they were named after. Mary Jane O'Hara has been a brick wall for so long but no longer thanks to this website.
