Thomas Gilfillan Family

THOMAS² (William¹ and Helen [Stevenson]) came to America with his brother William in 1785. Farmer with his brother on land bought for them by their uncle Stevenson. In March 3, 1802, Thomas Gilfillan of Camace, a parish in North Britain, conveyed to Thomas Gilfillan 105 acres of land in Barnet. (Town records.)

He m. 1st, Feb. 3, 1797, Janet, dau. Claud Somers, who d. Apr. 24, 1806, aged 29; 2nd, Aug. 20. 1807, Margaret, dau. John Hyndman (b. Dec. 24. 1785; d. June 23, 1834). He d. Jan. 28, 1852. Member of Center Ch. and buried there.

(2) Thomas³ (Claudius² Thomas¹), b. June 10, 1835. Farmer on homestead of his father and grandfather. He m. March 12. 1857. Susan Heath, dau. Wm. Harvey and Asenath (Heath) Duncan. both of Monroe. where she was b. July 14, 1836, and is living with her eldest daughter at Springfield, Vt. Thomas Gilfillan d. May 22, 1896. Seven children, all living at this date (1921).

	III.	Lycurgus Heath.⁴ b. May 3, 1863; m. Alice Rush of Chicago. Five children, 3 living. Res. Chicago.
	IV.	Helen Asenath,⁴ b. Dec. 25, 1865; m. Sept. 9, 1890, Henry Flanders. Four children, 2 living. Res. Fayville, Mass.
	V.	Claudius Harvey,⁴ b. Jan. 8, 1868; m. July 5, 1837, Mary, dau. Jonathan Abbott. One son. Res. Barnet.
